Day 27: High school students

"Knowledge has a beginning but no end"
I’m no longer a high school student.
Well, technically, I still have two finals, a luncheon, a mass and a graduation to attend.
But I stand by my statement.
I’m no longer a high school student, that is if you really consider the meaning of the phrase “high school student”. It means that one who is currently in the process of studying and learning materials in the context of a secondary school, and I think I have learned my last lessons from any teachers today. As the last bell rang at precisely 2:51 p.m, people rushed out their classroom with excitement and joy, and justifiably so. I mean, you spend four years of your life trying to fit all these pieces of information into your ten pound brains and you have to deal with all the dramas, teachers, admins, family expectation, future plans, etc… It’s exhausting, to say the least.
It’s a big deal, I guess then, to have that one moment when that bell rang for the last time, to pour out all the stress and frustration that has cumulatively added up. It’s easy to let it out, to enjoy the moment and forget about everything, even just for a week, a day, and a moment. After all, high school graduation is a big deal, no?
Except I don’t think it is. I don’t think I ever was a high school student. I always find that distinction very unnecessary and certainly overly used. I never will understand the need to put the phrase “high school” there, or “middle school”, or “college” in front of student. Scratch that, I don’t even know why you have to identify yourself as a student. It’s like identify yourself as a human. Do you ever say “Hi, I’m human!” when you see people? My guess is no. You should not say what is given, and student, is exactly what every one of us are given that we’re homo sapiens.
Studying and learning never stops. You think it does, but that’s only what you think. If you’re breathing, you’re learning. You are born to learn, because only through learning, you’ll survive and thrive. There is no other way. Sometimes I wonder why I don’t have enough time to learn enough things. Right now, I want to code, but I want to do cryptograph, I want to learn martial art, I want to learn to ride a car, I want to learn how plane works, I want to learn about my best friends, I want to learn about how I think, I want to learn about why people do what they do, I want to learn to show more respect to woman, I want to learn how to taste wine, I want to learn why our world is corrupted, I want to learn things that I don’t even know it existed yet.
So stop referring to yourself as a high school student. Don’t plan to refer yourself as a college student. Don’t even mention that you’re a student.
It’s a given.
We’re all students.
Until we leave this Earth.
Oh, shoot, do we learn after we die too?
Can we?
