Day 26: Loyalty is love
The only thing that keeps a tree from dying is its root.
People are cowards. We all are. It feels fitting to write
that now, with only a week until graduation and uncertainty will certainly
await. I’m a coward, you’re a coward, Hitler was a coward, Lincoln was a coward
and probably Adam and Eve were cowards. But the beautiful thing is, for each
coward on Earth, there are ten others that root him, making him stable and
invincible in front of the storm that life will constantly throw. Everyone is
vulnerable. Everyone is scared. Everyone is afraid of responsibilities, of
duties, of facts, of dreams, of love and of life. But everyone has something to
lean against, a wall that pushes forward.
Maybe that’s how human survived and thrived. We have zero
physical advantages against the world. Cheetahs are way faster than us. Lions
are way stronger than us. Elephants are bigger than us. Giraffes are taller
than us. Birds fly. Fishes swim. Monkeys climb. Snakes have venoms. We don’t
have anything going for us, except our brain and our communities. We survived
because we have each other’s back. We survived because we knew loyalty before
it even became a words. We stuck with each other through it all.
Loyalty is love.
Be loyal. To your parents, to your friends, to your boy, to
your girl, to whoever stick with you because they love you. Stick with them.
Have faith and go through whatever obstacles they’re going to.
One day you look around, and the heat of the desert pouring
on your seemingly fragile frame, you know you have the strongest root
